Movie Reviews

Sorry Lauren but i rented In the Land of Women without you. Actually me, Greg and Ty went to rent a movie and they wanted to see it so i got it. Trust me it is truly terrible. Here are a few of the highlights:
Seth is a soft core porn screenwriter
Seth makes out with Meg Ryan
Seth goes jogging (I have never seen him run before, not much of an exerciser in the oc)
And of course it is not seth, it is "Carter"
We just kept watching hoping he would talk about deathcab or mention an imax movie but he stayed true to his character.

In light of my disappointment, i started Season 4 again. Greg came over today and watched a couple episodes. He lives here now.

Les, I got a Boozer and Williams poster. It is hanging next to my calendar of the Jazz.

Three of my uncles are in the hospital. They are all pretty sick. Two with colon cancer, one in a coma. And one of my sister's athletes died at a scrimage football game. She is pretty upset. She had to do CPR and everything. That's all the bad news.

I think my swim lesson program is really going to take off here at the Logan Aquatic Center. I had a huge staff training today to try and standardize swim lessons. I'm working hard at it and it is good to see the benefits.

A fab five reunion may be in the works... I'll keep you posted.

“Summer, getting a man is like capturing a wily silverback gorilla in the Ugandan highland. You see, nature is telling that gorilla to stay in the wild. But both you and I know that that gorilla would be much happier back in the zoo on a normal feeding schedule. But sometimes, he's just gotta roar and beat his chest before he'll let you shoot him with a trank dart.”
-Taylor Townsend

This reminded me of you guys cause you are in Uganda like the gorilla.

A Few Days in Clinton

That's right. I retreated to Clinton to spend a few days with my family. I had a few adventures and these are them.

I live by a duck pond so i went and bought sissy the dog a leash. Everyday we went on walks to this duck pond ( really it is a retention pond that stores rainwater and runoff but they put fish in it and ducks and geese live there so everyone wins.) You see some strange things at a city pond. Like grown men fishing. FISHING! In a retention pond that is two feet deep. What is the point? Yeah i can see if you are six and after kindergarten you and your buddies get out your fisher price fishing poles and go down to the water hole to catch some fish, but middle age men spending all morning fishing a retention pond?

I also realized that when you are out and about Clinton in the middle of the day the only people you see are your aunts and people from Relief Society. I was fortunate enough to catch up on all the ward and family gossip and hear the whereabouts of everyone's kids and kids kids. People really open up and talk when they can tell that all you want to do is listen to your ipod and walk your dog.

I ran into a kid i knew in high school. He was at the pond with his two kids. He invited me and sissy over to his house to play with him and his kids. It took all my willpower not to scream and turn and run far far away. That was the last day i went to the duck pond.

My mom is mad greg is moving away ( he moves up today) so all week she kept picking fights with him. She would call him at all hours of the day and yell at him for weird stuff like not having a debit card, or leaving his scriptures at seminary, or yell at him over voicemail when he was in class cause his room wasn't packed up. My poor mother. She is going to miss little Golden.

Anyway, i'm back in Logan now. Oh and Lynn told me he got attacked by a flock of geese on his mission. I'm still laughing over that story. So if we ever get sick of him we can just get an army of geese to guard our apartment.

PS What is the time difference here to there? And when are you coming back? Plus, Les, Tiffany and Brian are engaged.

Memorial Day Weekend

And what a weekend it has been. Josi came to visit on Thursday. And luckily she did. Doug went and got himself into a relationship and we all know how terrible i am at talking to people about serious matters without using sarcasm and jokes to avoid real issues. So Josi came and talked to Doug about stuff. I'm pretty sure she straightened him out. That's why i keep her around- she gives good advice.

On Friday me and josi and Doug went to Angies for breakfast. It was a wild time. I ordered hashbrowns and a cinnamon roll that we all ate. Then later i took Josi for a peanut butter and oreo shake. Then later we went to Cafe Sabor. Les, it reminded me of Valentines day. A mariachi band was playing so me and josi got to reminisce about our days in the music business. We were in a band one Halloween, Josi and the Pussycats.

After the day of eating we went up to Bear Lake to stay in Josi's cabin. I got pretty good at ping pong. I had to come home early so i could magnify my church calling. I'm starting my FNL series again so that is exciting.

The pool is great. I'm getting way tan. I'm climbing the ladder in this business. I like being a boss and an expert in my field. I hope Africa is the bomb. How much longer? I should start a countdown... But i really am enjoying my summer. I love my job and all of its long hours. Just remember, we will be together again.

New Roommate

Well me and Yu Fen have company. Krista our new roommate moved in a few days ago. She's pretty chill. She likes watching movies and not going to parties just like us. Also, her best friend is in Germany right now doing study abroad. And she hates going to weddings. So alot of similarities. I think we will get along just great.

Today i have to teach Relief Society. I had two days notice, and of course those two days i was at work at least ten hours each day. So it should be a pretty slammin lesson.

I was listening to the Bed of Roses song by Bon Jovi and couldn't help but think of the movie that made that song famous. I should rent that again...

TCB

That's right TCB. I've just been Taking Care of Business. I'll have to give you guys the bullet points cause i work soon.
1. I passed Physics 2! I got a fortune cookie that said expect a miracle, and i guess i've seen that one unfold. I wasn't even passing before the final, then i didn't answer half the questions on the final. I guess that earns you a C-.
2. I got my WSIT certification. So i was in Cottonwood Heights all week and you guys weren't. Ironic. Does Emily work there Lauren?
3. I saw the guy from the food network that is on those TGIF commercials. He was in Roy so we stopped and got a picture with him. I wanted to punch him in the face though cause he is annoying.
4. How about them Jazz? 2-2. Watch out Lakers. Les you are definitely missing out. Sorry that was the blunt, honest truth.
5. I am loving Damien Rice's song La Professor and La Fille Danse or what ever it is called. Honestly, it blows me away every time i hear it.
Anyway the pool opens soon. I'm already getting like 50 hour weeks. I love it. No tan yet though. Sitting around B30 makes me depressed cause the walls are so quiet. I miss you guys every second. I am always about to almost text one of you, or i have something to tell you, or something and then i can't. Come home!

Doug Doug Doug

So last night i decided to go to bed early but then Doug called me to watch a movie. We went to Hollywood video to rent one and apparently he had been helping Chanel move and while he was there someone told Chanel it was really nice of her dad to come help her move. I laughed for like an hour. He is old enough to be her dad.

"Grandmother Willow, did you know Doug Hollist?"
"Why yes dear. Doug Hollist used to sit beneath my branches in the shade. But that was over 350 years ago."

"Doug, which war was worse to fight in? Civil or Revolution?"

"Doug, what were the Crusades like?"

"Doug, i bet that was a hard winter when the crickets came and ate all the Saint's crops. How did you survive?"

"Doug, the mission rules have changed since you were out 42 years ago."

"Doug, what was it like riding in the first automobile?"
